Job Description
The Audio Visual Technician will manage the end-to-end setup, operation, and breakdown of audiovisual equipment in banquet halls and meeting rooms. Responsibilities include ensuring equipment functionality, performing minor repairs or cleaning, taping down and dressing wires, and maintaining inventory of AV tools. The Technician will also assist guests with the proper use of AV systems, provide recommendations for additional AV services, and monitor equipment during events. The role requires close coordination with banquet and event teams, adherence to Marriott Visual Productions SOPs, and effective communication with supervisors regarding any equipment issues or changes in event requirements.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Set up, operate, and troubleshoot AV/projection/lighting/conferencing systems.
Oversee AV equipment setup in banquet and meeting rooms.
Perform basic maintenance, cleaning, and repairs of AV equipment.
Label and report faulty equipment to supervisor.
Tape down and dress loose cables to ensure safety.
Cross-check room setup against Banquet Event Orders and update supervisors on changes.
Assist and guide guests on the use of AV equipment.
Upsell AV services where appropriate.
Monitor equipment during events and ensure optimal performance.
Break down and secure equipment after use.
Follow Marriott Visual Productions SOPs for all AV operations.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Qualifications
Degree or Diploma in ICT or a related field (preferred).
Experience
At least 1 year of relevant work experience.
Practical experience in an audiovisual or IT/communications environment is an added advantage.
Competencies
Strong technical troubleshooting skills in AV systems.
Good interpersonal and communication skills for guest support.
Ability to manage time effectively and work under pressure.
Professionalism, attention to detail, and a guest-first mindset.
Team player with flexibility and adaptability.
