Job Vacancy: Assistant Programs Manager
Organization: HODARI Foundation
Location: Kyaka II Refugee Settlement, Uganda
Reports to: Programs Manager
Contract: 1-year, renewable
Position Overview
The Assistant Programs Manager will support the planning, coordination, and implementation of HODARI Foundation programs. This role requires strong organizational and communication skills, a proactive mindset, and a deep understanding of refugee-related challenges. The ideal candidate will be passionate about community development and capable of delivering impactful results in a dynamic field environment.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Assist in day-to-day coordination and implementation of all program activities to ensure alignment with project goals.
Collaborate with the Programs Manager to develop project work plans, budgets, and activity timelines.
Conduct regular field visits to monitor project progress, identify challenges, and provide support to field teams and beneficiaries.
Contribute to the preparation of timely and accurate reports, including quarterly, annual, and donor-specific reports.
Support in organizing community engagements, trainings, and workshops for project stakeholders.
Work with the Finance Officer to track project expenditures and ensure compliance with financial guidelines.
Serve as a communication bridge between the Programs Manager, field teams, and community stakeholders.
Assist in identifying new grant opportunities and support proposal development.
Perform any other duties assigned by the Programs Manager.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience, preferably in an NGO or humanitarian setting.
Experience working with refugees or vulnerable populations is a strong advantage.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
Strong commitment to HODARI Foundation’s mission and values.
