Job Description

Job Vacancy: Assistant Programs Manager

Organization: HODARI Foundation

Location: Kyaka II Refugee Settlement, Uganda
Reports to: Programs Manager
Contract: 1-year, renewable

Position Overview

The Assistant Programs Manager will support the planning, coordination, and implementation of HODARI Foundation programs. This role requires strong organizational and communication skills, a proactive mindset, and a deep understanding of refugee-related challenges. The ideal candidate will be passionate about community development and capable of delivering impactful results in a dynamic field environment.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assist in day-to-day coordination and implementation of all program activities to ensure alignment with project goals.

  • Collaborate with the Programs Manager to develop project work plans, budgets, and activity timelines.

  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor project progress, identify challenges, and provide support to field teams and beneficiaries.

  • Contribute to the preparation of timely and accurate reports, including quarterly, annual, and donor-specific reports.

  • Support in organizing community engagements, trainings, and workshops for project stakeholders.

  • Work with the Finance Officer to track project expenditures and ensure compliance with financial guidelines.

  • Serve as a communication bridge between the Programs Manager, field teams, and community stakeholders.

  • Assist in identifying new grant opportunities and support proposal development.

  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Programs Manager.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience, preferably in an NGO or humanitarian setting.

  • Experience working with refugees or vulnerable populations is a strong advantage.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and evolving environment.

  • Strong commitment to HODARI Foundation’s mission and values.
