Job Description
Reporting to the Workplace Banking Lead, the Assistant Manager will be responsible for verifying and administering scheme loans by reconciling repayment schedules, identifying anomalies, and resolving arrears. The role requires collaboration with Relationship Managers, Scheme Loan Officers, and the Early Recoveries team to safeguard the loan portfolio. The position also involves preparing reports, ensuring compliance with AML policies, monitoring risk exposures, and facilitating corrective actions.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Ensure timely and accurate processing of monthly loan repayment schedules and funds application.
Reconcile repayment schedules in real time to identify dropped or under-booked loans, and escalate corrective actions.
Prepare reports on dropped loans and coordinate with Early Recoveries for resolution.
Monitor payments due from scheme companies, maintain trackers, and ensure reconciliations.
Escalate first-installment defaults to management for timely arrears intervention.
Execute rollovers, restructures, and re-ages for qualifying loans to prevent regression.
Oversee Workplace Banking GL reconciliations, refunds, and correction of misrouted funds.
Reconcile Government of Kenya salary processing schedules.
Follow up on payments for customers moving to non-MoU employers.
Resolve customer disputes regarding deductions and scheme loan administration.
Verify invoices, booking templates, refunds, and reconciliations submitted by Loan Officers.
Monitor disbursement reports to resolve risks from delayed clearance letters.
Conduct routine checks on loan applications to detect anomalies and ensure compliance.
Hold bi-weekly portfolio health review meetings with Relationship Managers and Loan Officers.
Identify, escalate, and recommend mitigation measures for risks in the loan portfolio.
Report potential or actual money laundering and suspicious transactions in line with AML policy.
Foster teamwork, collaboration, and commitment to the Bank’s Pamoja culture.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in banking, with exposure to portfolio management, scheme loan administration, and risk management.
Strong knowledge of the Banking Act and regulatory framework.
Proven financial and analytical skills with ability to apply them to business goals.
Proficiency in banking systems and office tools; advanced Excel skills and experience with large datasets.
Strong problem-solving, risk management, and decision-making abilities.
Commercial acumen with ability to identify business opportunities.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
High resilience, drive, and results-oriented mindset.
Strong attention to detail and analytical capabilities.
