About the Organisation

The Secretary, District Service Commission Apac informs the general staff that, Applications are invited from suitable and eligible serving officers for the post which exist in the department as specified below:

Job Description

Security guards play a critical role in maintaining safety, security, and order in various environments, including commercial buildings, residential communities, retail establishments, healthcare facilities, and public venues. By fulfilling their duties with professionalism, vigilance, and integrity, security guards contribute to protecting people, property, and assets from potential threats and risks.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Surveillance: Monitor premises, property, or designated areas using surveillance equipment such as CCTV cameras, alarms, and access control systems. Maintain vigilance to detect and deter suspicious activity or security breaches.

  • Access Control: Control and regulate access to restricted areas, buildings, or events by verifying credentials, issuing visitor badges, and enforcing entry procedures. Prevent unauthorized individuals from entering secure areas.

  • Patrol and Inspection: Conduct regular patrols and security checks of assigned areas to ensure security and safety. Inspect doors, windows, gates, and other access points for signs of tampering or security vulnerabilities.

  • Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergencies, alarms, or incidents such as fires, medical emergencies, or security breaches. Take appropriate actions to mitigate risks, secure the premises, and protect occupants.

  • Conflict Resolution: Resolve conflicts, disputes, or disturbances in a calm and professional manner. Use verbal de-escalation techniques to defuse tense situations and maintain order while avoiding the use of excessive force.

  • Report Writing: Prepare accurate and detailed incident reports, security logs, and documentation of security-related activities. Document observations, incidents, and security breaches for investigative or legal purposes.

  • Customer Service: Provide assistance, information, and directions to visitors, employees, and tenants. Serve as a point of contact for inquiries, requests, and concerns related to security and safety.

  • Asset Protection: Protect valuable assets, equipment, inventory, and merchandise from theft, damage, or loss. Implement security measures such as inventory control, loss prevention, and theft deterrents.

  • Fire Safety: Enforce fire safety regulations and procedures, including evacuation drills, fire alarm testing, and emergency response protocols. Assist with evacuations and evacuation routes during fire alarms or emergencies.

  • Security Training: Participate in security training programs, workshops, and briefings to enhance knowledge, skills, and awareness of security threats and procedures. Stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required. Additional education or training in security, law enforcement, or a related field may be preferred by some employers.

  • Licensing and Certification: Obtain state or local licensing as required by regulatory authorities. Certification in first aid, CPR, and basic security training may also be required or preferred.

  • Physical Fitness: Possess good physical fitness and mobility to perform patrol duties, stand for long periods, and respond to emergencies or incidents as needed.

  • Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with coworkers, supervisors, and the public. Ability to communicate clearly and assertively in emergency situations.

  • Observational Skills: Strong observational skills to detect suspicious behavior, identify security risks, and recognize potential threats to safety and security.

  • Ethical Conduct: Integrity, professionalism, and adherence to ethical standards are essential for maintaining trust, credibility, and confidentiality in security roles.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to interact courteously and respectfully with diverse individuals, including clients, employees, visitors, and law enforcement personnel.

  • Security Experience: Previous experience in security, law enforcement, military service, or a related field may be required for some positions, particularly in roles requiring specialized skills or responsibilities.

  • Tech Savvy: Familiarity with security technology, surveillance systems, access control systems, and other security-related equipment is beneficial for performing duties effectively.

  • Crisis Management Skills: Ability to remain calm, composed, and decisive in emergency situations. Training in crisis management, conflict resolution, and de-escalation techniques is valuable for handling challenging situations.
