Job Summary
The Area Programme Manager (APM) will provide strategic and operational leadership across all SOS programmes at the Mayuge Field Office, including Family Strengthening (FS), Alternative Care, and other donor or government-funded initiatives. As part of the National Management Team, the APM contributes to national strategy, ensures quality program implementation, builds local partnerships, and upholds safeguarding standards for children, staff, and organizational assets.

How to Apply
1. Strategic Leadership & Programme Oversight
Lead implementation of SOS CV Uganda’s vision, mission, and strategy at the location level.
Oversee all programme activities, ensuring alignment with national strategic goals and standards.
Represent the National Director in Mayuge and liaise with government and stakeholders on behalf of the organization.
2. Project Management, Planning & M&E
Guide project design, implementation, and monitoring using Results-Based Management (RBM) frameworks.
Oversee progress reviews and ensure quality and timely reporting to donors and partners.
Collaborate with M&E staff to conduct evaluations and track impact.
Support proposal development and staff capacity building in project cycle management.
3. Financial & Grants Management
Ensure adherence to financial policies and donor guidelines.
Work with finance staff to manage project budgets, grants, and internal controls.
Monitor financial performance and contribute to budget planning and reviews.
4. Stakeholder Engagement & Partnership Building
Foster partnerships with local government, NGOs, and community networks.
Represent SOS in district-level forums and with donors.
Support fundraising, resource mobilization, and collaborative program implementation.
5. Alternative Care & Child Development
Ensure children in Alternative Care receive individualized support and development plans.
Supervise caregivers and educational staff to promote academic achievement, psychosocial support, and holistic well-being.
Monitor children's progress in health, education, and social development.
6. Human Resource & Team Development
Supervise and mentor staff, ensuring clarity of roles and performance expectations.
Promote a positive, inclusive, and compliant work culture aligned with SOS policies.
Oversee recruitment, orientation, appraisals, and professional development.
7. Safeguarding & Compliance
Enforce safeguarding protocols for children, adults, and financial resources.
Integrate safeguarding into all management practices including recruitment, training, and reporting.
Ensure that all staff and partners understand and implement safeguarding measures.
Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Community Development, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of strategic leadership experience in community development or child protection.
Proven expertise in child rights, gender equality, GBV prevention, and capacity building.
Strong ability to lead multi-sectoral partnerships with local government and community-based organizations.
Experience in proposal development, budget management, and results-based programming.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Fluency in English and working knowledge of local languages is an asset.
