Job Description
Job Title: Veterinary Officer (6 No Experience Jobs)
Organisation: Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA)
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
To diagnose and treat wild animals
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Diagnosing animal health problems and providing appropriate and timely treatment.
Implementing animal health programs and activities.
Managing health records for wild animals.
Maintaining and updating the bio-bank facility
Managing the animal hospital, nursery and quarantine units.
Implementing protocols and training staff on various aspects on husbandry/care.
Coordinating the wildlife breeding program.
Conducting post mortem on dead animals.
Undertaking rescue, rehabilitation, translocation and release of wild animals.
Implementing the preventive medicine program for the animals to avoid disease outbreaks.
Providing custody of wildlife veterinary drugs equipment and pharmaceuticals.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
A Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Medicine from a recognized University.
Must have a practicing license from Uganda Veterinary Board.
