Job Description
Job Title: QC GRE Assistant/Inspector – 6 Positions
Organisation: Sinopec Uganda
Duty Station: Hoima, Uganda
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of this position include:
Monitor and ensure the quality of all GRE piping works at site.
Inspect incoming GRE materials and verify compliance with specifications.
Check pipe cutting, chamfering, grinding, and fit-up as per approved drawings.
Ensure bonding and lamination works follow ISO-14692 and vendor procedures.
Verify surface preparation, adhesive mixing, application, and curing time.
Conduct visual inspection and dimensional checks for all joints and spools.
Inspect field joints, spigot/bell insertion lengths, and alignment.
Witness hydrotest, gravity test, and leak test activities.
Review and confirm that work follows method statements, ITPs, and project standards.
Raise NCRs and report any non-conformities to the QC Lead/Supervisor.
Coordinate with bonders, supervisors, and client (CPY) for joint and line inspections.
Maintain daily inspection records, reports, and joint traceability logs.
Ensure safety compliance during all GRE installation activities.
Support completion of test packages and final project documentation
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Must hold an Engineering degree or relevant Graduation qualification.
Minimum of 03 years’ experience in Oil and Gas industry specifically large construction projects, with thorough knowledge of various Quality regulations, standards, and procedures
Should have hands-on experience in piping-related activities.
Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings clearly.
Should have strong understanding of ISO-14692-4 code requirements.
In-depth knowledge of GRE piping systems will be an added advantage.
