Job Description

Job Title: Clinical Instructor (3 Positions)

Location: Buhweju District, Uganda


TUMU Medical Institute is seeking three (3) highly qualified and experienced Clinical Instructors to join our team. The Clinical Instructors will be responsible for providing practical teaching and guidance to nursing and midwifery students in the clinical setting. The role requires the ability to mentor and supervise students, ensuring that they acquire the necessary clinical skills to meet professional healthcare standards.

How to Apply

Clinical Teaching & Supervision:

  • Supervise and mentor students during clinical rotations in various healthcare settings.

  • Provide hands-on teaching and guidance to students in nursing and midwifery practices.

  • Assess students' clinical skills, offering feedback and additional instruction as necessary.

  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure effective teaching and quality care during clinical placements.


Curriculum Delivery & Development:

  • Assist in the development and adaptation of clinical curriculum to meet the needs of students and healthcare standards.

  • Deliver clinical lessons that align with the academic and practical training curriculum.

  • Participate in workshops, meetings, and training sessions to keep up-to-date with best practices in clinical education.


Evaluation & Reporting:

  • Monitor student progress and performance during clinical placements, providing regular evaluations.

  • Prepare reports on students’ clinical performance and collaborate with the academic staff to support students in areas needing improvement.

  • Ensure that all students meet the necessary competencies and clinical standards before progression to the next phase of their studies.


Support & Guidance:

  • Provide emotional and academic support to students, encouraging their professional development.

  • Be available to answer student questions and provide additional learning resources.

  • Serve as a role model for students, demonstrating professional behavior and ethical standards in clinical settings.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Diploma in Nursing or Midwifery from a recognized institution.

  • Must be registered and licensed with the Nurses and Midwives Council.

  • At least one year of experience in a clinical teaching role in a recognized healthcare or training institution.

  • Knowledge of current nursing and midwifery practices and standards.

  • Ability to work effectively with students and healthcare professionals in clinical settings.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

  • Ability to work in a rural setting and willingness to live in Buhweju District.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Midwifery or a related field is an advantage.

  • Experience in clinical simulation or hands-on teaching is a plus.
