Supervisees: None

Job Purpose:
To manage and maintain the Bank's database environments with a focus on Oracle technologies, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability. This role involves designing, configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting database systems, implementing high-availability solutions, and supporting disaster recovery to effectively support the Bank's business operations.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, configure, and manage enterprise database infrastructure including Oracle Database (12c, 19c, 23c, etc.), MS SQL Server, and other RDBMS platforms.

  • Design and implement high-availability database solutions including Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), Active DataGuard, and DBvist.

  • Continuously monitor database performance using advanced monitoring tools, identify issues, and perform tuning and optimization.

  • Implement database security measures including Oracle Audit Vault, Database Firewall, IBM Guardium, and other database activity monitoring solutions (DAMS).

  • Coordinate the development and execution of Data Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plans (BCPs).

  • Monitor and manage database storage utilization by implementing appropriate archiving and pruning strategies.

  • Lead the monitoring and management of primary and secondary databases to ensure synchronization and effective administration using DataGuard, DBvist, replication, and similar technologies.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of database configurations, changes, and troubleshooting procedures.

  • Collaborate with vendors and service providers to ensure timely and effective support and maintenance.

  • Ensure database operations comply with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.

  • Provide technical support for database-related issues and perform routine maintenance tasks.

  • Participate in the evaluation of IT-related procurements, ensuring database requirements are met.

  • Undertake additional duties as assigned by the Team Leader, Data Storage Services, from time to time.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

Qualifications:

  • A First or Upper Second-Class degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Information Systems, or Engineering.

  • Professional certifications in IT Service Management (ITIL), Database Administration (Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL), OCP, OCE-RAC, MCSA-SQL, MCP, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate.

Work Experience:

  • At least five years of relevant working experience in database administration, preferably with Oracle and Microsoft technologies in a telecom, banking, or financial institution.

Age:

Between 30 and 38 years at the close of the advert.


Competencies:

Technical Competencies include expertise in data storage and Oracle database administration (12c, 19c, 23c), MS SQL Server, experience with high-availability database solutions such as Oracle RAC and Data Guard, proficiency in Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Windows Server operating system administration, strong understanding of database security principles and best practices, experience with database activity monitoring tools (Oracle Audit Vault, IBM Guardium), experience in database performance monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting, knowledge of financial core banking systems and their database requirements, ability to manage and configure database systems for optimal performance, proficiency in SQL and database scripting languages, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.


Behavioral competencies include strong communication and interpersonal skills, a high level of integrity and accountability, ability to work effectively in a team environment, a proactive and innovative mindset, attention to detail, decision-making abilities, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
