183 IT Support Officers – General Elections 2026
Employer: Electoral Commission of Uganda
Location: Uganda
The Electoral Commission of Uganda, established under Article 60 of the Constitution and mandated to conduct public elections and referenda, invites applications from qualified, results-driven, and integrity-driven individuals to fill 183 IT Support Officer positions on a short-term contract basis.
About the Role
To ensure the successful conduct of the General Elections 2026, the Commission seeks competent IT professionals with the necessary skills, attitude, and qualifications to provide technical support at district and national levels.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Provide technical IT support for election technology systems, including the Biometric Voter Verification System (BVVS) and Electronic Results Transmission and Dissemination System (ERTDS).
Offer on-site support at polling stations, district tally centers, regional offices, headquarters, and the National Tally Center (NTC).
Install, configure, and maintain election IT equipment (servers, laptops, tablets, routers, etc.).
Ensure secure and efficient ICT infrastructure setup on polling day.
Train Tally Clerks and BVVS Operators on election IT systems to facilitate accurate results entry, verification, and transmission.
Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues swiftly to avoid disruptions.
Participate in pre-election testing, training, and simulation exercises.
Document incidents and provide technical reports.
Perform other IT-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Computing, or related field.
Minimum of 2 years experience in IT support, systems administration, or troubleshooting.
Hands-on experience with networks, databases, and ICT hardware/software support.
Knowledge of election technology systems (BVVS, ERTDS) is an advantage.
Experience in training or capacity building is desirable.
Willingness to be deployed to any district nationwide.

Ability to work effectively under pressure in a high-stakes environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to train and support non-technical staff.
High integrity and confidentiality.
Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends.
Contract Duration
The appointment will last six (6) months, covering pre-election preparations, election day, and post-election activities.
