Job Description

Position: District Based Trainers (DBTs) – 15

Reports to: Gender and Youth social inclusion (GYSI) Officer

Supervises: Community structures (Mentors, Peer Educators/facilitators, community champions)

Duty Station: Kampala, Wakiso and Mukono

Role Summary

District Based Trainer (DBT) will provide support, as guided by the Gender and Youth social inclusion (GYSI) Officer, to community level implementation targeting the urban poor population. S/he will ensure active engagement of vulnerable youth, and women groups inn ds in community activities. The DBT will enhance access to and use of health services and ensure waste and pollution reduction at the community and house level. The DBT will support training, linkages and reporting of all the community structures in the gender and youth social inclusion platform. The DBT support the GYSI Officer to oversee the implementation of integrated youth and gender inclusive programs among the community structures involved in delivery of health services.

How to Apply

Duties  

With guidance from the Gender and Youth social inclusion (GYSI) Officer;

  • Support to mobilize, organize and coordinate health education for children, adolescents, and young people at the facility and community.

  • Mobilise implement, and report on urban poor youth and women peer group activities.

  • Support review of urban poor youth and women community structures reports at city division/district level.

  • Support formation of urban poor youth and women peer support groups and liaise with other service providers for integrated health services.

  • Support urban poor youth and women peer group activities at household, facility and community level.

  • Support and collaborate with the community technical and local leaders like CDOs, LCI Chairpersons, VHTs, PSWs among others to link youth and women groups to other services.

  • Link urban poor youth and women community groups to eco-friendly, health-enhancing businesses and micro enterprises.

  • Support community youth and women groups to form and or join VSLA.

  • Support supervise community structures to profile, map and support urban poor to access project activities at healthcare facility and surrounding communities

  • Support community structures to plan and deliver health promotion sessions at facility and community level

  • Maintain a good track of all children, youth and women who nee RMNCAH and Nutrition and services.

  • Support community dialogues and follow ups activities with cultural, religious and social influencers in on gender transformation at community level.

  • Work with project staff, local leaders and community structures to promote urban waste management particularly plastic waste management and promotion of recycling

Experience and job specifications:

  • Completed senior six and able to communicate fluently in the English language.

  • Good NGO work experience in ASRHR and MCHN programs.

  • Good experience around community programs for women and youth.

  • Good digital skills-Can use a smart phone and have computer skills

  • Ability to work with several stakeholders at household, community and facility level
