Job Description
The Nursing Officer (Midwifery) will deliver maternal and newborn care, including antenatal, delivery, and postnatal services. The role involves assessing patients' health conditions, administering prescribed medications, and promoting safe motherhood practices. The Nursing Officer will also be responsible for maintaining accurate patient records and ensuring compliance with medical and ethical standards.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Provide midwifery services, including antenatal care, delivery, and postnatal care.
Assess and monitor patients' health status and report any complications.
Administer prescribed treatments and medications as directed by medical officers.
Educate mothers on safe motherhood practices, breastfeeding, and family planning.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
Ensure proper hygiene and infection control in the maternity ward.
Participate in community health education and outreach programs.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
A Diploma in Midwifery from a recognized institution.
Registration with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council.
A valid annual practicing license.
At least two years of relevant working experience in a reputable healthcare setting.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to handle patients with empathy and professionalism.
Knowledge of maternal and child healthcare practices.
