About the Organisation
Association for Aid and Relief Japan (AAR Japan) was founded in 1979 with a mission to help refugees from Indochina, and as a civil organization without any political, religious, or ideological affiliations. It has since then grown into an international NGO approved and registered by the United Nations. AAR Japan has five main pillars of activities; 1) emergency assistance, 2) assistance to persons with disabilities, 3) landmine and unexploded ordnance (UXO) action, 4) action against infectious diseases and 5) public awareness raising about global issues in Japan. Since the beginning, AAR Japan has operated in over 60 countries. Currently, we are active in 15 countries and areas, including 4 African countries namely Kenya, Zambia, Sudan, and Uganda. AAR Japan Uganda has been operational in Bidibidi, Imvepi Palorinya refugee settlements since September 2016 to support South Sudanese refugees.

Job Description
Job Title: Field Officer (Training)
Organisation: Association for Aid and Relief Japan (AAR Japan)
Duty Station: Hoima/Kyangwali, Uganda
Salary Range: UGX 1,300,000 – 1,800,000 (DOE)
The Field Officer (Training) is responsible for coordinating and executing training activities for teachers, community leaders, and other stakeholders. This role involves working closely with relevant project personnel to ensure the effective planning, implementation, and reporting of all training activities related to child protection and education in the Kyangwali Refugee Settlement and its Host Communities.

How to Apply
Coordination: Work closely with schools, local authorities, donors, communities, and other stakeholders to implement AAR Japan’s projects.
Training Preparation: Prepare/ arrange logistics such as venues and equipment for training activities.
Activity Leadership: Lead assigned activities from planning, procurement, mobilization, budgeting, asset control, implementation, and reporting.
Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze, manage, and compile data into reports and presentations to assess trends and the effectiveness of project activities in the settlement.
Training Organization: Plan and deliver training programs for teachers, community leaders, and other relevant groups on topics such as class management, guidance and counseling, and child protection. Additionally, the training staff will collaborate with instructors to develop content and materials, ensuring enhancement of training quality.
Reports and Data Analysis: be responsible for compiling and submitting activity reports, monthly and data analysis for M&E
Representation: Attend and/or participate in the meetings, monitoring activities, and other events as a representative of AAR Japan.
Additional Responsibilities: Perform administrative, logistical, financial, procurement and other duties as requested by supervisors.
Ugandan citizen, residing in Uganda, and willing to be stationed in Hoima.
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Education, development studies International Development, Social Work) is preferred.
Strong motivation to contribute to an aid organization and make a positive impact.
Excellent drafting/reporting skills, with strong written and verbal communication abilities.
Fluency in English and Kiswahili (with knowledge of runyoro language a plus).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Experience in data collection, analysis, and management, with a demonstrated ability for strategic and critical thinking.
High integrity, self-driven, and able to work effectively under challenging circumstances with minimal supervision.
At least 5 years of experience in education, child protection, or a related field.
Strong teamwork skills, flexibility, transparency, and a commitment to innovative solutions.
Capability to complete assignments with tight deadlines under challenging circumstances.
Experience Required:
More than five (5) years of experience in community development and case management work (preferably focusing on children at risk) in NGO sector.
More than five (5) years of experience in an aid organization. Experience in emergency and relief will be an added advantage.
Experience in implementing projects for child protection and education.
Experience in facilitating trainings, seminars and community engagement.
Experience in working at a refugee settlement or a refugee camp, especially with Congolese refugees, would be advantageous.
Experience in conducting studying statistical Data and M&E
