Farm Radio International
Non- governmental Organization
Kampala, Uganda
Farm Radio International (FRI) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) that focuses on using radio as a tool to improve agricultural practices and livelihoods in rural communities, particularly across Africa. In Uganda, like in many other African countries, FRI works with local radio stations to deliver relevant agricultural information to smallholder farmers. The organization's goal is to help farmers increase their knowledge of better farming practices, improve food security, and respond to climate change by providing accessible and practical information.
Agricultural Education: Providing farmers with information on crop and livestock management, pest control, soil health, and other agricultural techniques through radio broadcasts.
Climate Resilience: Offering weather updates and climate change-related tips to help farmers adapt to changing conditions.
Women and Youth Empowerment: Engaging women and youth in agriculture and ensuring they have access to relevant information.
Interactive Radio Programming: Enabling farmers to participate in discussions through phone-ins, text messages, or community involvement, making the programs more engaging and responsive to their needs.
Farm Radio International partners with local governments, farmer organizations, and other stakeholders to ensure their programming is relevant and impactful.
