The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) has officially announced the UPDF Recruitment 2025 exercise for 600 Local Defence Personnel (LDP). This opportunity is open to Ugandan citizens from the districts of Kamwenge, Kabarole, Bunyangabo, Kasese, Bundibugyo, and Ntoroko. The recruitment will begin on 10th November 2025, giving young Ugandans a chance to serve their nation with pride and discipline.

The UPDF recruitment 2025 aims to strengthen local security through the enlistment of Local Defence Personnel (LDP). These recruits will be trained, equipped, and deployed to help safeguard communities while upholding the values of patriotism, nationalism, and Pan-Africanism — the foundation of the UPDF’s mission.
Selection Criteria for UPDF Recruitment 2025
To qualify for the UPDF Local Defence Personnel (LDP) recruitment 2025, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Citizenship: Must be a Ugandan citizen with a valid National ID or NIN.
Health: Must be physically and medically fit for military training.
Age Limit: Open to males and females aged 18 to 25 years.
Education: Must have completed Senior Four (S.4) or possess an equivalent qualification.
Character: Must be disciplined, law-abiding, and have no criminal record.
Residency: Applicants must be residents of the district where they are applying.
Application: A handwritten application letter endorsed by LCI, LCII, LCIII Chairpersons, and GISO/DISO is mandatory.
Important Note: Any form of forged documents is strictly prohibited. Those caught will face legal action.
Documents Required for UPDF Recruitment 2025
Each applicant must present the following documents at their district’s recruitment centre:
Handwritten application letter with recommendations from LCI, LCII, LCIII, and GISO/DISO.
Original National ID or NIN slip.
O-Level academic certificate.
Those who successfully pass the interviews will be transported to the UPDF training school for further military training.
