The African Union (AU) internship program is a full-time engagement through which qualified individuals from diverse academic backgrounds are given the opportunity to gain professional exposure within the AU.
This program provides a valuable opportunity for interns to complement their educational experiences and develop professional skills within the AU.
African Union Internship Programme
Purpose:
The AU Internship Program aims to:
Expose participants to the inner workings of the AU early in their professional careers.
Strengthen their personal and professional skills.
Provide hands-on experience in various applicable fields.
Foster learning in an intercultural environment.
It serves as a potential grooming ground for future African leaders.
Eligibility:
Applicants must be:
Nationals of the African Union’s member states.
Enrolled in full-time undergraduate (final year of study) or postgraduate programs, or graduates from recognized institutions of learning.
Fluent in one of the AU’s official working languages (Arabic, English, French, or Portuguese, Kishwahili).
Aged between 22 and 32 at the time of application.

Application Process:
All internship applications must be submitted through the AU Careers portal
Interested candidates should provide the following documents:
A motivation letter indicating their expectations from the internship program.
A copy of a valid passport or national identity card.
Certified copies of relevant academic certificates.
Current curriculum vitae (CV).
Recommendation letter for the internship from their attending institution.
Candidates interested to apply for internship with the African Union Commission should send the following document

Applicants will be required to create a profile on AU Careers portal.
