Job Description
Our client is a multidisciplined logistics, transportation, handling and drilling services provider to the resources, construction, infrastructure, utilities and energy sectors. They are based in Kampala, Uganda and they urgently have a vacancy for a Workshop Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
Operational Management
Daily Operations Oversight: Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day activities within the workshop to ensure optimal workflow.
Resource Allocation: Ensure that all necessary resources, including materials, tools, and equipment, are available and properly maintained.
Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels of materials and spare parts, placing orders when necessary to prevent shortages.
Staff Management
Team Supervision: Lead and manage the workshop team, including technicians, mechanics, and support staff.
Recruitment and Training: Hire new staff as needed and provide training to ensure the team has the necessary skills and knowledge.
Performance Evaluation: Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to staff, encouraging professional development.
Maintenance and Repairs
Technical Oversight: Oversee all repair and maintenance activities, ensuring they are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
Quality Control: Implement and monitor quality control processes to ensure all work meets established standards.
Equipment Maintenance: Schedule and oversee regular maintenance of workshop equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure longevity.
Health and Safety
Safety Compliance: Ensure the workshop complies with all health and safety regulations and standards.
Safety Training: Conduct regular safety training sessions for staff and ensure they are aware of and follow safety protocols.
Incident Management: Handle any accidents or incidents promptly and effectively, conducting investigations and implementing corrective actions as needed.
Customer Service
Customer Interaction: Interact with customers to understand their needs, provide updates on work progress, and ensure customer satisfaction.
Service Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all services provided, including customer information, work performed, and parts used.
Complaint Resolution: Address and resolve any customer complaints or issues promptly and professionally.
Qualifications and Competencies
Proven experience as a Workshop Manager with at least 4 years in a similar role.
Diploma in Automotive Mechanics / Auto Electrical (or similar)
Demonstrated experience with Sinotruck, FAW repairs and maintenance
Proven experience managing interpersonal relationships at all levels.
