Position Summary:
C-Care Uganda is seeking a dedicated and courteous Waitress to join our team at C-Care IHK. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering timely and professional meal service to hospital patients, ensuring all dietary requirements are met in accordance with medical and nutritional standards. A strong emphasis is placed on hygiene, attention to detail, and patient care.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Deliver meals, snacks, and beverages to patients in the wards in accordance with their prescribed dietary plans.
Cross-check patient meal trays to ensure they align with dietary instructions.
Serve meals promptly and at the appropriate temperature.
Assist patients with opening food containers or setting up trays, when needed.
Collect used trays, crockery, and cutlery after meals and return them for cleaning.
Report any patient feedback, complaints, or concerns regarding meals to the supervisor.
Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene for food trolleys, trays, and serving equipment.
Adhere strictly to hospital infection control protocols and food safety regulations.
Support the nutrition team in tracking and monitoring patients’ food consumption, when required.
Demonstrate courtesy, patience, and empathy in all interactions with patients.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Meal Accuracy: Percentage of meals accurately delivered according to patient dietary prescriptions.
Timeliness of Service: Percentage of meals served within the scheduled time frame.
Patient Satisfaction: Ratings and feedback received from patients regarding meal service.
Food Safety & Hygiene Compliance: Adherence to hospital standards on cleanliness and infection control.
Resource Handling: Proper usage and management of serving equipment, crockery, and cutlery.
Attendance & Reliability: Consistent and dependable attendance and punctuality.
Continuous Improvement: Participation in refresher trainings or quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Key Skills and Competencies
Qualifications:
Diploma in Catering, Culinary Arts, or a related discipline.
Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of experience in hotel or hospitality service.
Prior experience in healthcare catering or patient meal service is a plus.
Basic understanding of nutrition and special dietary requirements.
Behavioural Competencies:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to treat patients with care, respect, and maintain confidentiality.
Capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks.
Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
