Job Description
Position: Treasury Officer
Company: FINCA Uganda

Reporting to: Treasury Manager
Application Period: August 1 – August 15, 2025
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and results-driven individual to join our team as a Treasury Officer.
Role Summary
The Treasury Officer is responsible for executing money market and foreign exchange (forex) trading activities within defined mandates, while actively contributing to revenue generation through customer acquisition and relationship management. This role also supports liquidity and cash management to optimize the institution’s financial position and ensure operational efficiency.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
1. Foreign Exchange Management
Build and maintain a strong client base through referrals, networking, and market engagement.
Drive forex business growth by nurturing existing relationships through regular client calls and visits.
Actively prospect for new forex clients to grow the institution's share of wallet.
Maintain ongoing communication with inter-bank counterparties and establish new relationships.
2. Money Market Operations
Conduct forex and money market transactions end-to-end, ensuring compliance with internal controls and financial targets.
Monitor Nostro and clearing accounts to ensure timely funding for payments and optimal investment of surplus funds.
Execute transactions strictly within approved limits to minimize risk exposure.
Maintain productive relationships with treasury clients and financial institutions to support business growth.
Collaborate with business units to promote utilization of treasury services.
3. Liquidity and Cash Management
Assist in monitoring branch cash balances to maintain healthy liquidity levels.
Support deposit mobilization efforts to expand the institution’s funding base.
4. Customer Service
Uphold customer service excellence in all interactions with internal and external stakeholders, applying best practices from retail banking environments.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Required Competencies
Strong business acumen and relationship management skills
Ability to thrive in a high-pressure dealing room environment
Innovative, analytical, and proactive decision-maker
High ethical standards and integrity
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Team-oriented with a willingness to adapt in a dynamic environment
General knowledge of banking operations, sales, and treasury products
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration (Finance or Accounting), or a related field
CPA or ACCA Level II is an added advantage
ACI Dealing Certificate (Basic Level) preferred
Minimum of 4 years of banking experience, with at least 2 years in a treasury or forex dealing environment
Solid understanding of treasury operations, products, and services
Familiarity with trade and structured finance is an advantage
Proven trading ability with a successful track record
Knowledge of financial risk management tools and practices
