Location: Yumbe, Uganda
Program Background
Since registering in Uganda in 1998, IRC has been active in Child and Youth Protection, Health, Economic Recovery, Women’s Empowerment, and supporting Southern Sudanese refugees. Our offices include a head office in Kampala and field offices in Kiryandongo, Lamwo, Kyaka, West Nile, and Yumbe.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Supply Chain Coordinator, the Transport Manager will lead the management of IRC’s transport operations in Uganda. This role requires effective planning, coordination, and oversight of the vehicle fleet to ensure cost efficiency, safety, and compliance with IRC policies and legal regulations.
The manager will also standardize transport policies and provide technical support to fleet teams across field offices.

How to Apply
Strategic:
Develop and implement long-term strategies for efficient fleet management, including vehicle allocation, maintenance, and driver training.
Review and update transport policies and ensure consistent application nationwide.
Oversee fleet management systems, vehicle maintenance procedures, and workshop contracts.
Operational:
Maximize fleet efficiency and control running costs.
Manage vehicle replacement planning aligned with donor guidelines.
Supervise and train transport staff and drivers to uphold performance and safety standards.
Monitor fuel usage, vehicle maintenance, and driver records ensuring transparency and accountability.
Coordinate with field offices to enforce IRC fleet management standards.
Manage the vehicle tracking system to prevent misuse.
Prepare and submit timely fleet reports to management.
Deliverables
Timely submission of monthly fleet reports, including fuel and maintenance data.
Maintain a well-organized fleet management filing system.
Maintain up-to-date inventory of spare parts and vehicle assets.
Conduct regular performance reviews and appraisals of transport staff.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Administration, Transport, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in fleet management and driving.
CILT certification is an advantage.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong integrity, attention to detail, and supervisory skills.
Ability to multitask and work effectively in a team.
Knowledge of NGO transport procedures preferred.
Valid driving license required.
Proficient in English and Microsoft Office.
Mechanical knowledge is a plus.
