Job Purpose
The Training Officer – Bancassurance is responsible for assessing and addressing the training needs of Old Mutual Uganda’s Life Insurance intermediary channels. The role involves developing, coordinating, and delivering training programs that strengthen the capabilities of the sales force across both the Agency and Bancassurance channels — ensuring compliance, professionalism, and high performance.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Training & Development
Conduct training needs analyses and develop tailored training programs for Life Insurance intermediaries.
Coordinate onboarding programs for new sales staff in both Agency and Bancassurance divisions.
Develop, update, and deliver training materials in line with company policies and industry standards.
Organize incentive and motivational training sessions, drawing on both internal and external resources.
Oversee the development and implementation of continuous learning initiatives to enhance sales force knowledge and performance.
Administer product knowledge tests and ensure high competency levels across all intermediaries.
Deliver technical training sessions to ensure intermediaries fully understand Old Mutual’s Life Insurance products.
Recruitment & Compliance
Spearhead the recruitment and onboarding process for the sales force within Agency and Bancassurance channels.
Coordinate the registration and certification of Life Insurance Agents and Bancassurance Specified Officers in line with Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) requirements.
Ensure adherence to all internal controls and external compliance regulations.
Continuously review recruitment and training processes to ensure relevance and effectiveness.
Career Development & Performance Support
Conduct induction and career development sessions for agents and Bancassurance Specified Officers.
Participate in product development committees, providing feedback on training relevance and product performance.
Provide ongoing support and guidance to intermediaries to promote career growth and performance improvement.
Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with Old Mutual’s AML, Sanctions, and Compliance policies.
Conduct Know-Your-Customer (KYC) and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) checks.
Identify and report potential AML or compliance breaches to the Risk and Compliance Office.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies

Education & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree (required).
Professional certification in Insurance, Learning & Development, or related fields is an added advantage.
Prior experience in Bancassurance, Insurance Sales, or Training & Development roles preferred.
