Job Description
As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for planning and managing emergency response initiatives within your assigned region. This involves leading field teams, overseeing project implementation, coordinating with local and international partners, and ensuring compliance with humanitarian guidelines and donor requirements. You will represent the organization in various forums, manage risks and safety protocols, and ensure that relief interventions are efficient, timely, and impactful. The role also requires adaptability in dynamic settings and a strong focus on accountability and learning.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Leadership & Program Management
Plan, manage, and evaluate emergency response activities.
Lead and supervise cross-functional teams during relief interventions.
Utilize needs assessments and stakeholder input to inform operational decisions.
Coordination & Representation
Represent the organization in cluster coordination meetings and with government partners.
Collaborate with humanitarian agencies, NGOs, donors, and local communities.
Align interventions with national frameworks and global humanitarian standards.
Operational Oversight & Compliance
Oversee logistics, procurement, budgeting, and reporting.
Ensure programs adhere to donor and internal policies and humanitarian principles.
Document lessons learned and contribute to program improvement.
Risk Management & Safety
Conduct field risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
Support the safety, wellbeing, and security of field staff.
Provide leadership during emergency deployments and in high-risk zones.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Humanitarian Affairs, Project Management, International Development, or related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience in humanitarian/emergency program leadership.
Proven skills in project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and team supervision.
Strong knowledge of humanitarian standards such as SPHERE and CHS.
Experience with budgeting, logistics, and operational compliance.
Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills.
Fluency in English and/or local language is highly desirable.
