Job Description
The Team Lead, Accounting & Treasury is responsible for managing all accounting and reporting functions, including oversight of financial procedures, regulatory compliance, and budgeting. The role involves interpreting key financial data to guide business strategy, mentoring the accounting team, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, and coordinating external audits. The incumbent will lead the preparation of financial reports and ensure compliance with IFRS standards, tax laws, and internal policies. This leadership position requires strong analytical skills, ethical standards, and a commitment to excellence and inclusion.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and statements
Monitor financial procedures and ensure regulatory and internal compliance
Analyze financial data and provide insights to support strategic decisions
Implement and maintain effective internal controls and risk management frameworks
Prepare budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis reports
Manage treasury operations, income and expenditure tracking, and financial planning
Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff
Coordinate with auditors, tax authorities, and regulators during audits and reviews
Evaluate and enhance accounting systems and tools for improved performance
Ensure confidentiality and integrity of financial data
Promote inclusive leadership and team development in line with EEA values
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
Master’s degree is an added advantage
Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, or CMA
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in accounting and treasury in a leadership role
Solid understanding of accounting principles, standards, and regulatory frameworks
Skills and Competencies:
Strong analytical and decision-making skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Proven ability to manage deadlines, multitask, and lead a team
High attention to detail and commitment to quality
Proficiency in accounting software, ERP systems, and MS Office
Leadership qualities aligned with integrity, inclusivity, and accountability
Languages:
Fluent in English and Kiswahili
