Job Description
The Principal Coordination Officer will serve under the External Relations, Strategy, Knowledge and Innovation Division (ERSKI) at UN-Habitat. The Division oversees corporate strategic planning, global urban trend analysis, partnerships, advocacy, innovation, and digital transformation for urban sustainability. The officer will report directly to the Director of ERSKI and be responsible for overseeing planning, coordination, and reporting functions, particularly for flagship initiatives such as the World Urban Forum. The role involves facilitating internal collaboration, external engagement with partners, producing knowledge products, and steering strategic dialogue on sustainable urban development. The Officer will also manage cross-functional teams and contribute to high-level policy and programmatic development within the UN system.

How to Apply
Lead coordination of flagship programs and initiatives including the World Urban Forum
Oversee strategic partnerships and engagement with stakeholders and development partners
Provide high-level support to the Director of ERSKI in aligning programmatic objectives with global urban development agendas
Guide preparation of key reports, knowledge products, and urban data publications
Coordinate internal collaboration across divisions to ensure coherent implementation of strategic priorities
Represent UN-Habitat in high-level forums, conferences, and inter-agency platforms
Lead preparation and oversight of strategic frameworks, advocacy campaigns, and innovation initiatives
Ensure quality control and timely delivery of analytical reports and flagship knowledge products
Support the development and implementation of digital tools and platforms for sustainable urban development
Education:
Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in urban studies, international relations, public administration, development studies, or a related field. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.
Experience:
A minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible experience in programme management, international development, policy coordination or a related field
Experience in managing complex projects and global partnerships, preferably in multilateral or international organizations
Strong understanding of sustainable urban development, global advocacy, and innovation frameworks
Languages:
Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (French, Arabic, Spanish, Russian, or Chinese) is desirable.

Strategic vision and leadership
Strong coordination, negotiation, and networking skills
Excellent communication, analytical, and report-writing abilities
Proven experience in high-level representation and stakeholder engagement
Ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams in multicultural settings
