Job Description
Job Title: Supervisor – Main Electrical Workshop
Department/Programme: Factory
Section/Project: Electrical
Reports To: Repair & Maintenance Superintendent
Supervises: Electrician
Overall Purpose of the Job
The Supervisor – Main Electrical Workshop is responsible for overseeing the repair, maintenance, servicing, and installation of electrical equipment in the factory. The role ensures optimal performance, safety, and reliability of all electrical systems and equipment under their supervision.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Plan and execute the installation of electrical equipment throughout the factory.
Diagnose and repair faults in main switches, power control fuses, control circuits, and contactors.
Ensure all factory lighting systems are operational and maintained.
Inspect and test ampere meters and selection switches, cleaning and tightening connections as needed.
Test all completed repairs and maintenance tasks to confirm functionality before handing over to users or operators.
Maintain high standards of electrical workmanship in the factory workshop.
Allocate specialized tools and equipment to workers and ensure proper usage.
Supervise the overhaul of electrical equipment during off-crop periods and major shutdowns.
Monitor ongoing electrical jobs within the workshop and across the factory.
Provide on-the-job training for subordinate staff, management trainees, and industrial trainees.
Prepare and submit daily and periodic reports detailing all repair and maintenance activities.
Enforce compliance with company safety, health, and environmental regulations among workshop staff.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Repair & Maintenance Superintendent or management
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education:
A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution is required.
A certificate in Supervisory Management is an added advantage.
Experience, Skills, and Competencies
At least three years of hands-on experience as an electrical technician.
Strong knowledge of electrical power safety regulations and handling practices.
Familiarity with first aid procedures for electric shock.
Experience in technical maintenance engineering and the ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.
Basic supervisory skills, strong communication, and effective interpersonal abilities.
Good interpersonal skills are essential for effective team coordination and leadership.
