JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Assess, diagnose, manipulate and make recommendations for the management of injuries and diseases of bones, muscles and nerves
Liaise with health facility staff in pre-operative, operative and post-operative patient care, including assisting during surgery and performing rehabilitation exercises
Collaborate with Clinicians to respond to emergency fracture and bone medical conditions
Liaise with Clinicians, community based staff and protection colleagues to identify, document and refer persons with medical orthopaedic needs such as mobility devices, wheelchairs, crutches and walking sticks
Work with the district hospital orthopaedic and physiotherapy team to ensure referred clients access services
Administer appliances to patients and train in the proper use of prosthetic and orthotic devices
Conduct home visits to follow up with patients who have received services at the district hospital and/or who are unable to travel to the health facility
Ensure that medical practices are conducted with the highest level of integrity and ethics according to professional and MTI Code of Conduct
Ensure data collected is accurate and submit reports according to schedule
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
EDUCATION, LICENSES, & CERTIFICATIONS
Diploma in Orthopaedics is required; Bachelors Degree is preferred
Registration with Allied Health Professionals Council is required
Valid practising license is required
EXPERIENCE
2 years of orthopaedic experience is required
Experience working with international NGOs is an added advantage
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of orthopaedic principles and best practices
Knowledge of hygiene management and IPC protocol
SKILLS
Skilled in manipulating bones and muscles
Skilled in identifying appropriate appliances to assist patients
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including counselling patients regarding health needs
A good command of both written and spoken English
ABILITIES
Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to professional code of conduct
Ability to treat all patients and staff with respect, without prejudice
Ability to provide high quality, ethical, compassionate care that places the needs of the patient first
Ability to maintain detailed records with high accuracy
Ability to support MTI Calling and adhere to the MTI Code of Conduct
