Job Description
Job Title: Shift Supervisor – Electrical
Department/Programme: Factory
Section/Project: Electrical
Reports To: Electrical Superintendent
Supervises: Electrical Technician / Electrician
Overall Purpose of the Job
The Shift Supervisor – Electrical is responsible for supervising and monitoring all electrical systems and installations throughout the assigned shift. The role ensures uninterrupted power supply and optimal electrical performance across the production process.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Coordinate the repair and resolution of all electrical breakdowns during the shift to ensure continuous and efficient production.
Monitor and diagnose faults along the process flow to maintain electrical control parameters within normal operating levels.
Oversee general overhauls of electrical equipment in the workshop during off-crop periods and planned shutdowns.
Ensure punctuality and attendance of shift staff, allocating tasks to maximize team productivity.
Distribute specialized tools and equipment to staff, ensuring proper use and care.
Provide on-the-job training to subordinate staff, management trainees, and industrial trainees to support skills development.
Initiate requisitions for spare parts and materials needed during the shift, while maintaining accurate records of usage and stock levels.
Maintain and review shift logbooks, ensuring accurate documentation of all shift activities.
Enforce adherence to company safety, health, and environmental regulations within the electrical team.
Carry out any other duties assigned by the Electrical Superintendent or management.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education:
A degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution is required.
A certificate in Supervisory Management is an added advantage.
Experience, Skills, and Competencies
A minimum of three years of hands-on experience as an electrical technician.
Solid knowledge of electrical power safety regulations, power handling principles, and first aid for electric shock.
Proficient in technical maintenance engineering procedures and interpreting technical drawings or sketches.
Basic supervisory experience, with good communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong interpersonal abilities to effectively manage team dynamics and promote collaboration.
