Reports to: Loan Collection Supervisor

Purpose of the Role
The Loan Collection Officer will be responsible for managing the bank’s written-off and high-risk loan portfolio, ensuring recovery actions are taken in a timely, lawful, and cost-effective manner. The role supports the bank’s profitability by recovering outstanding loans in accordance with BRAC’s recovery policies and relevant regulations.

How to Apply
Analyze and assess delinquent loan accounts to determine causes of default and recommend remedial action.
Classify defaulted accounts into risk categories: Watch, Substandard, Loss, and Written-Off, and tailor recovery strategies accordingly.
Recommend and coordinate assignment of defaulted accounts to external debt collectors or bailiffs.
Monitor and manage the Portfolio at Risk (PAR) for major loans within your assigned division.
Initiate immediate recovery measures for non-performing accounts in coordination with the Legal, Collections, and Debt Recovery Teams.
Support branch teams in planning and executing loan recovery strategies in line with bank policy.
Prepare and submit regular recovery progress reports with clear action points to the Loan Collection Manager or Division Manager.
Mentor and train field staff on effective loan recovery practices.
Negotiate settlements with defaulters, ensuring maximum recoveries with minimal cost to the bank.
Oversee performance of external debt collectors and ensure submission of monthly progress reports.
Facilitate regular branch-level delinquency review meetings and recommend timely corrective actions.
Supervise credit-related litigation cases and liaise with external legal counsel.
Manage contractual relationships with bailiffs, auctioneers, valuers, insurers, and lawyers, including timely renewals.
Supervise asset repossession and sales processes, ensuring accurate reconciliation and return of surplus funds (if any) to borrowers.
Maintain an organized filing system for legal documents, SLAs, litigation cases, collections reports, and vendor contracts.
Identify and act on high-risk loans or branches ("Satellites") requiring urgent intervention.
Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in a Business-related field.
Additional certification in Law is highly desirable.

Strong loan recovery, negotiation, and debt collection skills.
Analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure and outside standard working hours.
High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Team-oriented with a willingness to coach and support others.
