Key Responsibilities:

1. Patient Care:

• Provide comprehensive midwifery care to expectant mothers throughout their prenatal, delivery, and postnatal journey.

• Monitor maternal and fetal health during labor and childbirth, taking timely action when necessary.

• Manage obstetric emergencies and perform procedures to protect the health of the mother and child.

• Offer family planning services, counseling, and education to patients.

• Conduct cervical cancer screenings and educate patients on preventive health measures.

• Administer immunizations and ensure patients follow vaccination protocols.

• Assist in receiving and caring for newborns in the theater, including performing neonatal resuscitation when required.

2. Supervision and Training:

• Mentor and guide junior midwives and nursing staff to uphold high standards of care.

• Ensure that maternity protocols and clinical guidelines are followed by all team members.

3. Collaboration:

• Work closely with obstetricians, pediatricians, doctors, and clinical officers to provide excellent maternal and newborn care.

• Educate and counsel families on postnatal care, breastfeeding, and family planning.

4. Administrative Duties:

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.

• Contribute to the development and implementation of maternity center policies.

• Monitor the inventory and ensure essential equipment and supplies are available.

5. Quality Improvement:

• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the maternity ward.

• Identify and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance care standards.
