Job Description
The Senior Analyst – Research is responsible for designing, managing, and delivering high-quality research outputs for clients and stakeholders. This includes conducting rigorous quantitative and qualitative analysis, compiling market intelligence, and interpreting economic, financial, and policy data to guide strategy. The role involves collaborating closely with internal teams, partners, and clients to ensure insights are practical and aligned with client needs. The Senior Analyst will also mentor junior analysts, support proposal development, and contribute to thought leadership initiatives that advance Rock Advisors’ mission to strengthen capital markets in Africa.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Lead research projects from design to delivery, ensuring accuracy, depth, and relevance.
Conduct financial modeling, market analysis, and economic forecasting to support investment and policy recommendations.
Collect, clean, and analyze large datasets using statistical and financial tools.
Prepare and present research reports, policy briefs, presentations, and investment memoranda.
Collaborate with advisory teams to integrate research findings into client strategies.
Track sectoral, economic, and regulatory trends affecting capital markets across Africa.
Mentor and provide guidance to junior analysts and interns.
Support business development through proposal writing and development of innovative research products.
Contribute to thought leadership by publishing insights and participating in stakeholder forums.
Ensure compliance with ethical research practices and data confidentiality standards.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Business, or related field.
A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline is an added advantage.
Experience
At least 4–6 years of progressive experience in research, financial analysis, consulting, or related roles.
Proven ability to conduct economic and financial research, data analysis, and market assessments.
Strong background in capital markets, policy research, or advisory services is desirable.
Core Competencies
Advanced analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
Strong proficiency in research tools (Excel, Stata, R, or equivalent).
Excellent communication skills, with ability to present complex findings clearly.
Strong writing skills for drafting high-quality reports, briefs, and presentations.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and multicultural environment.
High levels of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
