Job Description
The Senior Analyst will be part of BCG Vantage in a client-facing role, contributing to projects, proposals, and knowledge development related to energy access, climate policy, distributed renewable energy, carbon markets, and similar themes. The candidate will support strategic initiatives, coordinate proposal development, manage energy-related bids, and bring sector expertise to bear on client problems. The role includes building relationships with stakeholders, supporting commercial efforts, managing content repositories, and developing thought leadership and intellectual property.
This role is positioned within BCG’s Social Impact Practice Area, focusing on work with governments, donors, NGOs, and private sector actors. It involves close collaboration with teams across Africa and globally.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Manage and develop knowledge assets and intellectual property related to energy access and climate.
Conduct sector-specific research, maintain knowledge repositories, and draft reports/publications.
Coordinate and support proposal writing and bid development.
Assist with commercialization of BCG’s energy and climate offerings in Africa.
Participate in client casework, applying deep analytical and technical expertise.
Engage with stakeholders and maintain networks within the Sub-Saharan Africa energy and development ecosystem.
Support opportunity identification, pipeline management, consortium development, and go/no-go decisions.
Write for varied audiences, including technical and development stakeholders.
Support junior team members with onboarding and mentorship.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (required), Master’s degree (preferred) in Engineering, Economics, Political Science, Business, Environment, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum 2 years consulting experience in the energy/climate sector, or at least 3–6+ years in relevant industry roles.
Project management experience with foundations, DFIs, and climate/energy sector implementers.
Proven track record in business development and proposal coordination.
Familiarity with energy technologies, policy, economics, and distributed energy models.
Competencies:
Strong writing and communication skills (English proficiency required).
Excellent analytical, strategic, and conceptual thinking skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience in stakeholder engagement and working with cross-functional global teams.
High level of adaptability, curiosity, and innovation.
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Work authorization in Kenya required.
