Job Description
Reporting to the Shift Miller, the Technical Machine Operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining milling machinery on the roller floor. The role involves executing daily production plans, adjusting product output to meet quality standards, ensuring Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and supporting maintenance and pest management programs. The operator will also participate in continual improvement initiatives and ensure full compliance with safety and legal standards.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Execute daily production plans and attend daily planning meetings.
Reconcile product and additive usage and reserve required consumables.
Maintain high GMP compliance and implement food safety programs.
Monitor and optimize the grain cleaning and conditioning process.
Ensure optimal milling efficiency and set extraction rates.
Participate in investigating and correcting process losses.
Conduct inspections for pests and ensure sanitation through deep cleaning.
Support preventive and corrective equipment maintenance.
Engage in autonomous maintenance activities, tagging, and troubleshooting.
Identify and resolve process challenges using PDCA and other tools.
Uphold Unga’s culture code – FIRST – through collaboration and initiative.
Document process data and generate reports (production, additive use, etc.).
Participate in workplace safety training and compliance.
Maintain clear communication and escalate unresolved issues.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education & Experience:
Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical field.
Relevant hands-on experience in a food or grain processing environment is an added advantage.
Skills & Competencies:
Knowledge of milling equipment and grain handling procedures.
Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and hygiene.
Good understanding of food safety systems and GMPs.
Ability to troubleshoot and maintain machinery.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Familiarity with safety standards and workplace safety procedures.
Proficiency in documenting and reporting operational data
