Fort Portal City Service Commission

Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance, training, and support in performing their duties, and fostering a positive and collaborative work environment within the accounting team.

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and other reports, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS).

  • Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis, variance analysis, and performance evaluation to assess the organization's financial health, identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities, and provide insights to support decision-making by management.

  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development, monitoring, and analysis of budgets and forecasts, collaborating with department managers to set financial targets, track expenses, and identify areas for cost savings or revenue enhancement.

  • General Ledger Management: Maintain the general ledger, including posting journal entries, reconciling accounts, analyzing account balances, and ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial data in accordance with accounting principles.

  • Internal Controls: Establish and maintain effective internal control procedures and processes to safeguard assets, prevent fraud, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) and other applicable regulations.

  • Audit Support: Coordinate and assist with internal and external audits, providing documentation, explanations, and support to auditors, addressing audit findings, and implementing recommendations for improvement as needed.

  • Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations, including preparation and filing of tax returns (e.g., income tax, sales tax, payroll tax), responding to tax inquiries, and advising on tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities.
