Job Summary

We are seeking passionate and dedicated Secondary School Teachers specializing in Biology and Chemistry to join our education team. The successful candidates will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, nurturing student growth, and contributing to both academic excellence and holistic development in line with Watoto’s values and the Uganda Ministry of Education and Sports curriculum.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and effective lessons in accordance with Watoto and national education standards

  • Prepare and administer monthly and termly assessments to track learner progress

  • Monitor subject and class academic performance to ensure consistent improvement

  • Create a safe, interactive, and learner-centered environment in the classroom

  • Recognize and celebrate student achievements across academic and extracurricular areas

  • Ensure responsible use and maintenance of school resources and materials

  • Encourage learners’ involvement in vocational training and monitor their performance

  • Assess and evaluate real-life learning projects undertaken by students

  • Facilitate small group leadership and mentorship sessions with learners

  • Provide individual guidance and mentorship to support students’ personal development

  • Integrate real-life experiences into teaching to promote practical learning outcomes

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education (with specialization in Biology and/or Chemistry)

  • Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience at the secondary school level

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills

  • High degree of flexibility, creativity, and initiative in the learning environment

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team

  • Demonstrated passion for holistic child development and mentorship

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Pedagogical skills with an innovative approach to teaching and learning
