Research Intern job at Restless Development

Restless Development

About the role
Restless Development is seeking to recruit a talented and dynamic individual to join our youth-led research team at Restless Development Uganda.
You will provide support on a range of research projects for Restless Development, while employing our Youth led Research Methodology as well as using the evidence to design research projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Programme Support (35%)

  • Assisting in designing and implementing surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions to collect data.

  • Collaborate with local communities and stakeholders to collect relevant information.

  • Participate in analyzing quantitative and qualitative data using statistical tools or qualitative analysis methods.

  • Summarize findings and contribute to report writing and presentations.

  • Assist in planning and executing the Green Jobs/Youth Research Academy components.

  • Conduct community sensitization programs on Green Jobs.

  • Train volunteers in safety, risk assessment, and management.

  • Assist in addressing capacity gaps on Green Jobs in the Kampala, Nakasongola, and Jinja regions.

  • Aid in training preparations for volunteers.

  • Develop activity and monthly reports.


Partnership Management (15%)

  • Ensure staff in Kampala, Nakasongola, and Jinja understand the Green Jobs Project.

  • Monitor the work of Social Analysis and Action (SAA) Facilitators, VHTs, and Intergenerational Dialogue Mentors.

  • Collaborate with research teams to share findings with key stakeholders.

  • Assist in preparing and submitting quarterly reports to the leadership team.

  • Represent Restless Development Uganda in meetings with government and NGO partners.

  • Establish relationships with community leaders and health centres.

  • Volunteer Management and Welfare (15%)

  • Ensure volunteers and team leaders adhere to the code of conduct.

  • Report volunteer incidents in line with health & safety policies.

  • Facilitate support and welfare meetings with team leaders and researchers.

  • Financial Planning and Management (15%)

  • Collaborate with Programme Officers and Finance unit.

  • Ensure activities align with the work plan and budget.

  • Manage finances according to Restless Development policies.

  • Generate regular updates and reports as required.


Other (10%)

  • Other duties as required, sometimes requiring working on weekends and holidays for which time off in lieu can be taken.

  • Experience in conducting or supporting research projects, preferably in low- and middle-income countries, using quantitative and/or qualitative methods.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, and preferably another language relevant to the regions where Restless Development operates.

  • A strong interest in youth-led development and a commitment to the values and mission of Restless Development.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with attention to detail and quality.

  • Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing contexts and priorities.
