Job Description
The Research and Grants Coordinator will lead MHSU’s resource mobilization and research efforts by identifying funding opportunities, developing high-quality grant proposals, managing donor contracts, and supporting evidence-based programming. The role ensures strong financial compliance, effective reporting, and learning for continuous improvement.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Grants Development & Resource Mobilization
- Identify local and international funding opportunities aligned with MHSU’s mission.
- Lead proposal writing, concept note development, and donor submissions.
- Coordinate budgeting with program and finance teams for grant proposals.
- Maintain a grants pipeline and donor tracking system.
Grants & Contract Management
- Manage grant agreements, compliance requirements, and reporting schedules.
- Monitor grant expenditures in collaboration with Finance.
- Ensure timely submission of narrative and financial reports to donors.
- Support audits and donor reviews.
Research, Learning & Advocacy
- Lead and coordinate research initiatives to generate evidence for programming and advocacy.
- Design and support assessments, surveys, and monitoring tools.
- Document lessons learned, case studies, and impact stories.
- Support human rights and mental health advocacy campaigns.
Sub-Grant & Partner Support
- Manage sub-grant processes, including partner selection, contracting, monitoring, and capacity building.
- Provide technical assistance to partners on reporting and compliance.
Communications & Coordination
- Work closely with program, outreach, and communications teams to package MHSU’s work for donors.
- Represent MHSU in research, donor, and stakeholder meetings.
- Support organizational strategy development and planning.
