Job Description

The Regional Sales Manager will be responsible for overseeing the sales strategy and execution in the northern region of Nigeria, ensuring market penetration, driving revenue growth, and enhancing customer satisfaction. The role involves team leadership, channel development, performance monitoring, territory management, and strategic planning to improve the organization’s market position. The successful candidate will act as the face of the company in the region, spearheading marketing intelligence, product visibility, customer engagement, and sales funnel expansion across all relevant trade channels.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

  • Achieve regional monthly, quarterly, and yearly sales targets.

  • Develop and implement sales and route-to-market strategies for all product lines.

  • Expand customer base and drive market share growth across targeted channels (open market, QSR, HORECA, etc.).

  • Supervise and support the sales and trade marketing teams in market/channel development activities.

  • Handle day-to-day operations and provide professional coaching to improve team performance.

  • Resolve customer complaints and ensure technical follow-up and satisfaction.

  • Communicate targets, assess staff performance, and manage team motivation and training.

  • Develop successors and build strong leadership pipelines within the team.

  • Conduct market research to monitor competition and align proactive marketing strategies.

  • Coordinate with internal/external stakeholders to ensure seamless operations.

  • Analyze company/product SWOC/SWOT to identify growth opportunities and mitigate risks.

  • Monitor stock inventories, storage conditions, and SKU distribution.

  • Generate accurate and timely sales reports in line with company standards.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

  • Minimum of a First Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field.

  • MSc/MBA and/or relevant professional qualification is an added advantage.

  • At least 15 years of relevant experience, including 3 years in a similar managerial role.

  • Previous experience in a Ball Food/Cereal company is mandatory.

  • Strong understanding of food distribution channels in Northern Nigeria.

  • Excellent territory management and market analysis skills.

  • Strong sales, negotiation, and presentation capabilities.

  • Proven ability in customer relationship management and team leadership.

  • Strong analytical, computing, and report writing skills.
