Latitude Trade Co
Latitude Trade Company (LTC) is a rapidly growing social enterprise in Uganda sourcing specialty cacao for export and producing bean-to-bar chocolate at origin. Working with over 1,000 certified organic smallholder farmers, our mission is to sustainably increase incomes and reduce risk for our suppliers while positively impacting the community and environment surrounding our operations.
We aim to provide chocolate makers and consumers in East Africa and around the world with the highest quality, transparently sourced, and fully traceable Ugandan cocoa products.
Safe storage and accountability of raw materials and finished products
Receiving and dispatching of raw materials and finished products including submission of order forms and coordinating procurement efforts
Quality control of finished products from factory including routine submission of randomly selected products for audit by Managing Director
Training of staff on food safety plans and certification requirements
Ensuring all documents related to storage, production, food safety, certification, and quality control at the factory are available, properly filled and well-organized
Conduct monthly internal audits of practices and processes in the factory
Weekly review of production forms to check raw materials used vs output.
Establishment and management of product recall program and protocols
Coordination of all audits related to food safety and certifications
Assist in the procurement of packaging supplies and the management of packaging processes
Assist in the coordination of shipping logistics and import / export requirements
Assist colleagues in procurement, production, distribution, and transport of Latitude goods where possible
In addition to these responsibilities, all employees are encouraged to propose programs, strategies or experiments which they feel offer a promising avenue for improvements to the company or livelihoods of the farmers.

2+ years’ experience working in manufacturing, commercial food production, or quality control
Diploma in food safety, manufacturing or similar relevant field
Fluent spoken and written English
Ability and willingness to learn on the job
Previous experience in the chocolate sector is an asset but not required
