Job Description

Position Title: Quality Assurance Manager

Location: Kampala, Uganda

Institution: Victoria University

Reports To: Deputy Vice Chancellor – Finance, Administration & Business Development

Purpose of the Role

To provide strategic leadership in quality assurance across the University, ensuring adherence to academic and administrative standards, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement aligned with national and international benchmarks.

How to Apply

  • Lead the design, implementation, and monitoring of university-wide quality assurance policies and initiatives.

  • Develop tools and frameworks for evaluating teaching quality by both students and peers, and communicate findings to stakeholders.

  • Monitor quality across academic and administrative departments and ensure compliance with established standards.

  • Advise University Council, Management, and Senate on all quality-related matters.

  • Serve as a member of the University Senate and contribute to institutional policy development.

  • Coordinate institutional self-assessments and peer reviews to ensure ongoing improvement.

  • Liaise with national and international quality assurance bodies and regulatory agencies.

  • Provide reliable data and reports to senior management, NCHE, government bodies, and external auditors.

  • Support curriculum development, academic reviews, and compliance with education laws and policies.

  • Ensure effective implementation of internal controls for quality assurance across university operations.

  • Offer professional guidance to management and contribute to strategic planning processes.

  • Master’s degree in Quantitative Economics, Statistics, Business Administration, or Education Management from a recognized university.

  • Bachelor’s degree from a reputable higher education institution.

  • Postgraduate qualification in management is an added advantage.

  • Additional certification in any of the following is preferred:

    • ISO Standards

    • Total Quality Management Systems (TQMS)

    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

    • Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)

    • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)

  • Experience in curriculum development, educational evaluation, or research is an added advantage.

Experience Required

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in academia or administration, including at least 3 years in a senior managerial position.

  • Proven track record in teaching, research, or higher education management.

Appointment Terms

  • Initial appointment of four years, subject to a successful six-month probation. The contract is renewable based on performance.

  • Deep understanding of quality assurance frameworks and higher education standards.

  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.

  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
