Job Description
The QC Analyst – Packaging Materials plays a vital role in maintaining the integrity of packaging components used in pharmaceutical production. The successful candidates will conduct detailed inspections and perform physical, dimensional, and functional testing on primary and secondary packaging materials such as blister foils, bottles, labels, cartons, and inserts. Analysts are expected to verify specifications, ensure documentation is compliant with GMP and SOPs, and coordinate closely with procurement, warehousing, and production teams. The role also involves reviewing supplier documentation, tracking non-conformances, and supporting audit readiness efforts. Ideal candidates will bring knowledge of GMP, ISO standards, and packaging specifications, with a keen eye for detail and strong documentation skills.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Receive and log samples of printed and non-printed packaging materials for analysis.
Conduct visual and physical inspections of packaging materials such as cartons, bottles, caps, labels, and inserts.
Perform tests including grammage, thickness, peel strength, ink adhesion, and barcode readability.
Compare packaging components to approved artwork and master specifications.
Document test results, generate Certificates of Conformance (CoC), and maintain accurate logs.
Identify and report non-conformances and initiate material rejection or deviation procedures.
Ensure testing and documentation comply with cGMP and ALCOA+ data integrity principles.
Collaborate with procurement, warehouse, and production teams for timely clearance or rejection of materials.
Maintain reference standards and packaging material controls for visual inspection.
Support audits and regulatory inspections by maintaining up-to-date and accurate records.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Academic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Chemistry, Packaging Science, Quality Control, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related scientific field.
Experience and Competencies:
2–3 years of relevant experience in quality control of packaging materials within a regulated pharmaceutical or manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of packaging component specifications and standard test procedures.
Familiarity with cGMP, ALCOA+ principles, and pharmaceutical quality documentation.
Ability to read and interpret packaging artwork, dielines, and component drawings.
High attention to detail, excellent observation skills, and solid communication abilities.
Experience with packaging operations and an understanding of their integration in production workflows.
