About the Organisation
Established in 2006, Youth Sport Uganda (YSU) is a registered Sport for development organisation based in Kampala. YSU offers sporting opportunities for the underprivileged youth in Uganda. We develop social skills and confidence of disadvantaged young boys and girls from the slums, through working with school, and out of school sports programmes. YSU believes in the power of sports to foster change in our communities, and thus incorporate the innate sports values of tolerance and equality.

Job Description
The Project Officer is responsible for the coaches on the project and ensures that they are all enabled to deliver their targets in a planned manner. They also coordinate with the team to conduct capacity building trainings for coaches
Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct regular visits to project sites to monitor the implementation of activities, gather feedback from coaches and submit detailed report about the activities and findings
Provide mentorship and support supervision to coaches.
Assist to identify needs and opportunities by conducting training needs assessments for coaches.
Collect data on project indicators and maintain an updated database on project progress
Assist in tracking project performance at community level and report, monitor and follow up on project activities.
Support the Monitoring and Evaluation team in the tracking of outcome of activities evidenced by accurate data to enhance quality of reporting
Identify and document human interest stories and case studies based on the successes of implemented projects
Coordinate Community of Practice for coaches to share best practices across the program line.
Oversee the planning and delivery sports activities by coaches, providing safety instructions and demonstrations of equipment and ensuring these are adhered to.
Reporting any safeguarding concerns among program beneficiaries.
Qualifications and Competencies
Essential
Bachelor's degree in Social Works and Social Administration or a related field.
Two years of progressive experience as a project officer.
Desirable
Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating professionalism in all dealings with staff and coaches.
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
Ability to effectively read and interpret information, present numerical data in a resourceful manner.
Ability to prioritize and plan work activities as to use time efficiently.
Good organizational skills.
Experience in sport for development.
