Job Title: Project Coordinator – WASH (HOPE Project)
Location: Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement, Uganda
Reports To: Deputy Program Manager
Starting Date: August 2025
Contract Duration: 1 year (renewable)
Working Hours: Full-time (40 hours/week)
Salary: UGX 2,600,000 gross/month
About the HOPE Project
The HOPE Project (June 2025 – December 2029) is a multi-sectoral initiative focused on WASH, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), Land Rights, and Livelihoods. Through partnerships with local organizations, the project promotes local ownership, gender equity, and inclusive development in refugee and host communities.
Key objectives include:
Promoting gender-inclusive household decision-making
Increasing land tenure security through Certificates of Customary Ownership
Providing gender-sensitive MHPSS services and WASH infrastructure
Empowering male role models to champion social change
Position Overview
ZOA Uganda is seeking a WASH Project Coordinator to lead the day-to-day planning, coordination, and implementation of WASH activities under the HOPE Project in Kiryandongo District. The ideal candidate will oversee program delivery, monitor progress, and ensure alignment with ZOA’s strategy and donor requirements. The role also involves supporting local partners and promoting community-led solutions.

How to Apply
Project Implementation & Coordination
Develop and maintain detailed WASH implementation plans and ensure alignment with project goals.
Oversee timely and quality delivery of WASH activities for both refugee and host communities.
Support assessments, project reviews, and impact evaluations.
Ensure compliance with technical standards, donor guidelines, and government regulations.
Conduct regular field visits to monitor progress and offer technical guidance.
Partner Engagement & Capacity Building
Work closely with local implementing partners to assess capacity gaps and provide technical support.
Promote community participation and inclusion throughout project activities.
Supervise hygiene promoters, provide coaching, and ensure targets are met.
Monitoring, Reporting & Documentation
Track WASH indicators and collect data in line with ZOA’s monitoring systems.
Compile activity reports, success stories, and lessons learned for internal and external use.
Contribute to donor reports and ensure accurate financial coding and procurement planning.
Stakeholder Engagement
Represent ZOA in technical working groups, coordination platforms, and district-level meetings.
Liaise with OPM, UNHCR, local government departments, and other NGOs.
Promote feedback and complaint mechanisms in collaboration with community stakeholders.
Compliance & Safeguarding
Adhere to and promote ZOA’s safeguarding policies, Code of Conduct, and Do No Harm principles.
Sensitize beneficiaries, partners, and staff on accountability processes.
Ensure that feedback and complaints are documented and addressed promptly.
Bachelor’s degree in Hydraulic Engineering, Water Resource Engineering, Environmental/Public Health, or a related field.
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in WASH, preferably in humanitarian or refugee settings.
Experience working with or supporting local partner organizations is an added advantage.
Familiarity with inclusive programming, especially involving persons with disabilities.
Strong command of English (written and spoken); knowledge of local languages is a plus.
Proficient in MS Office; knowledge of GIS, SPSS, AutoCAD, WaterCAD, or EPANET is desirable.
Valid motorcycle riding license required.

Flexibility to travel frequently within the district, including to remote areas.
Special Conditions
This position is based at ZOA’s Kiryandongo Field Office.
Regular in-district travel is expected; the ability and willingness to ride a motorcycle is essential.
Working hours follow the national employee handbook, with flexibility required during reporting or travel periods.
