African Women and Youth Action for Development

GBV Coordinator will be responsible for project coordination, implementation, ensure efficient resource utilization, representation of AWYAD at field level, ensure that reporting and accountability are observed, maintain good working relationships with donors, implementing partners, OPM, UNHCR, targeted communities and protection actors.

  • Lead and provide technical guidance in the development, implementation and assessment of GBV Prevention, Response and Psychosocial Support (PSS) project activities in line with AWYAD strategic plan and values.

  • Analyze GBV trends, identify gaps and utilize AWYAD capacities to address GBV needs in the project areas.

  • Organize & lead trainings on GBV and protection in order to bridge skills and knowledge gaps.

  • Support in the building of referral mechanisms, promote protection mainstreaming within the project, ensure proper functioning and an accessible referral pathway for the survivors.

  • Compile timely and quality weekly, monthly, quarterly, biannual and annual project reports.

  • Promote and ensure that Safeguarding and Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) policies & procedures are adhered to by staff & all AWYAD representatives.

  • Identify project gaps, areas of growth and support in developing project strategies to meet beneficiary needs, project changing context & other underlying factors.

  • Regularly conduct field monitoring visits to ensure quality GBV Prevention & Response interventions.

  • Appraise project staff and provide support in performance management of Case Management workers.

  • Document GBV and protection lessons learnt under the project and disseminate as may be required.

  • Represent AWYAD in GBV/protection working groups and meetings at field level, district level, regional and national levels when required.

  • Build & maintain professional relations with UNHCR, OPM, Government, District & local authorities, humanitarian actors, national partners and collaborators in the settlement.

  • At least a Bachelors’ degree Gender and women Studies, Behavioral Arts/Sciences, Social work & social development, Law or any other related field of humanities.

  • Post Graduate diploma in relevant fields

  • A minimum of 3 years hands – on working experience in emergency response and community development or Gender based violence

  • Proven experience implementing programs in Gender and Gender based violence.

  • Ability to network and establish collaboration.

  • Timely decision making and problem-solving skills.
