Job Description

As the Programs Lead at Dwona Initiative, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our organization's mission and vision. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, you will oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of our programs aimed at empowering girls and women across Africa. We are seeking an individual who shares our passion for gender equality and possesses the drive to make a tangible difference in the lives of girls and women through innovative program design and management.

  • Develop and implement program strategies for the Reusable Menstrual Pads (RUMPs) for Rural Girls and The Power of My Voice, aligning them with our mission and goals.

  • Coordinate with program associates and external partners to ensure effective program delivery and impact.

  • Monitor and evaluate program outcomes, making adjustments as necessary to maximize effectiveness.

  • Collaborate with the Chief Executive Officer and Communications and Advocacy Lead to disseminate program reports that support our vision and educate our supporters, donors, and partners.

  • Manage the Dwona Fempack product production and distribution across partners and partner schools.

  • Represent Dwona Initiative in humanitarian forums regarding African girls and women’s voices, such as working groups, conferences, lobby meetings, and other events as requested.

  • Be available for travel to the field sites for program work and advocacy.

  • Manage program budgets and resources efficiently to achieve desired results.

  • Cultivate relationships with stakeholders, including donors, government agencies and personnel, and community organizations, to support program objectives.

  • Stay informed about relevant issues and trends in gender equality and girls' education to inform program development and advocacy efforts.

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as International Development, Development Studies, Development Economics, Gender Studies, Public Health, or a related area.

  • Ready to build experience in program management, preferably in the non-profit sector with focus on African girls’ and women’s issues.

  • Independent and collaborative work ethic, has initiative and tenacity to drive projects and programs forward in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

  • Exceptional advance planning and organizational skills. Ability to effectively prioritize and follow multiple activities and deadlines simultaneously with little to no supervision.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.

  • Commitment to gender equality and social justice, with a passion for girls and women’s issues.

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
