The Opportunity

STIR Education is looking for a dynamic Program Lead to join its team in Uganda. This role, based in Kampala with extensive travel across regions, is pivotal in driving our mission to reignite intrinsic motivation in teachers and education officials. As Program Lead, you will champion improved classroom practices and ensure strong implementation of our education programmes in partnership with government and district education stakeholders.

1. Advocate for Teacher Motivation

  • Serve as the lead champion for teacher intrinsic motivation in your regions and districts.

  • Build alignment among District Education Leadership, Regional DES, UNATU, and ASSHU officials on the importance of motivated teaching and improved classroom practice.

  • Document and share impactful stories that highlight the positive changes happening in schools and communities.

2. Build Strategic Relationships

  • Develop strong working relationships with regional and district officials.

  • Gain trust and collaboration from key education influencers.

  • Use data and outcomes to strengthen momentum for learning and change among teachers and officials.

3. Facilitate High-Quality Training and Support

  • Design and lead impactful training sessions for district and regional officials.

  • Support the development of tailored implementation plans aligned with local education structures.

  • Provide coaching and ongoing support to help officials adopt and lead the programme independently.

4. Foster a Learning Network

  • Encourage collaboration and knowledge sharing across districts and regions.

  • Create open and reflective learning environments among education stakeholders.

  • Facilitate cross-district learning and experimentation in leadership and educational practices.

5. Promote Organisational Values and Culture

  • Model professionalism, integrity, and a growth mindset.

  • Uphold STIR’s values in all engagements and programme activities.

  • Manage budgets and resources responsibly to ensure value for money.

6. Data Management and Reporting

  • Collect and maintain accurate and confidential programme data.

  • Support monitoring and evaluation activities in partnership with the M&E team.

  • Analyse and report on programme progress, outcomes, and performance metrics.

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Sciences, or related field.

  • Preferred: Postgraduate diploma in Project Planning, Education Management, or related fields.

  • 3–5 years of experience in NGO-led education programming.

  • Proven ability to work with district education officials, secondary school leaders, and teachers.

  • Familiarity with the Ugandan education system and strong regional government networks.

  • Experience in data-informed decision-making and reporting.


Remuneration and Benefits

  • Salary: UGX 5,741,528 per month (UGX 68,898,336 per annum) before taxes.
