About the Role
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Procurement Associate to join our Operations team. This role is essential in overseeing the procurement lifecycle—from vendor selection and contract management to compliance, audits, and strategic sourcing.
You will work closely with internal departments and external suppliers to ensure all procurement activities meet company standards of integrity, efficiency, and value-for-money. Additionally, you will support continuous process improvement, vendor performance reviews, and the achievement of key procurement metrics.

How to Apply
Procurement Operations (80%)
Implement and ensure compliance with Uzima’s Procurement SOPs and policies.
Maintain an up-to-date Preferred Supplier Database with all relevant due diligence and contract documentation (digital and physical).
Conduct quarterly and annual supplier reviews to ensure cost-effectiveness and optimal payment terms.
Support identification and onboarding of vendors in coordination with the sourcing team.
Monitor supplier performance, enforce quality standards, and maintain productive relationships.
Evaluate product specifications, prepare bid documentation, and oversee the bid award process.
Lead contract negotiations and payment term agreements with preferred suppliers.
Conduct pricing audits and market benchmarking to ensure competitiveness.
Track contract expirations and proactively engage stakeholders to renew or renegotiate agreements.
Support compliance reviews of purchase orders and supplier contracts.
Due Diligence & Risk Mitigation
Carry out thorough due diligence on all vendors (e.g., reference checks, certificate validation, URSB records).
Conduct anti-conflict of interest assessments and ensure fair, transparent procurement processes.
Monitor market trends and supplier availability to ensure best value for goods and services.
Training & Support
Train and advise departments on procurement procedures and policy compliance.
Assist in the preparation and review of annual procurement plans and budgets.
Provide support during supplier audits and procurement reviews.
Reporting & Process Improvement
Participate in monthly KPI reporting (cost savings, supplier clean-up, performance metrics, etc.).
Identify inefficiencies or gaps in the procurement process and recommend improvements.
Ensure all prepayments result in timely and satisfactory delivery of goods/services.
General
Uphold confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism in all procurement activities.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Procurement & Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.
Experience:
2–3 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or purchasing roles, ideally within a structured or regulated organization.
Experience in contract management, supplier evaluations, and bid processes is highly desirable.
Strong track record of maintaining procurement documentation and vendor databases.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills:
In-depth knowledge of procurement policies, procedures, and contract law.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); ERP/procurement software experience is a plus.
Strong analytical and negotiation skills with an ability to achieve cost savings while maintaining quality.
High attention to detail and exceptional record-keeping abilities.
