Lira University is one of the public Universities in Uganda. It started as a Constituent College of Gulu University in 2009 and attained autonomy as a fully-fledged Public University through an Act Parliament under Statutory Instrument 2015 No. 35 on the 16th July, 2015.
It was established on a niche of training students in Health Sciences. It has the first University Teaching Hospital in Uganda.

Lira University is a Public University pursuant to Statutory Instrument No. 35 of 16 July 2015 under The University's and other Tertiary Institutions Act 2001 (as amended 2006). Applications are invited from suitably qualified and interested candidates for the following post.
Creating and Managing Schedules: Develop detailed schedules for projects, production, or services to ensure timely completion. This involves setting timelines, identifying milestones, and allocating resources accordingly.
Resource Allocation: Plan and allocate resources, such as personnel, equipment, and materials, to meet project or production needs. Ensure that resources are used efficiently and effectively.
Monitoring Progress: Track the progress of projects or production activities against the schedule. Identify any deviations from the plan and take corrective actions to ensure deadlines are met.
Coordinating with Teams: Work closely with various departments or teams, such as production, engineering, procurement, and logistics, to ensure all aspects of a project or production process are aligned and on schedule.
Forecasting Demand: Analyze historical data and market trends to forecast future demand for products or services. Use this information to adjust production schedules and inventory levels accordingly.
Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels to ensure the availability of necessary materials and products while minimizing excess inventory. Coordinate with procurement to order materials as needed.
Risk Management: Identify potential risks to the schedule or project, such as delays, resource shortages, or technical issues. Develop contingency plans to mitigate these risks.
Data Analysis and Reporting: Collect and analyze data related to production, project progress, and resource utilization. Generate reports and provide insights to management for decision-making purposes.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improving planning processes, reducing costs, and increasing efficiency. Implement best practices and process improvements.
Compliance and Documentation: Ensure all planning activities comply with relevant regulations, standards, and organizational policies. Maintain accurate records and documentation of schedules, plans, and changes.
Budget Management: Assist in preparing and monitoring budgets related to projects or production. Ensure that activities are completed within budget constraints.
Using Planning Software: Utilize specialized planning and scheduling software (such as Microsoft Project, SAP, Oracle, or other ERP systems) to create and manage plans, schedules, and resources.
Education: A bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, engineering, project management, or a related field is typically required. Some roles may require a degree in a specific field related to the industry (e.g., urban planning, architecture, or manufacturing).
Experience: Relevant experience in planning, scheduling, project management, or a related field is often required. Entry-level positions may consider candidates with strong academic backgrounds or relevant internships.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills to assess data, identify trends, and make informed decisions regarding scheduling, resource allocation, and risk management.
Attention to Detail: High attention to detail to ensure accurate scheduling, resource planning, and inventory management. Ability to detect discrepancies and address them promptly.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with various teams, present plans to management, and prepare detailed reports.
Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify potential issues and develop effective solutions to keep projects or production activities on track.
Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in using planning and scheduling software, as well as general office software like Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Teamwork and Collaboration: Ability to work well with cross-functional teams and foster collaboration among departments to achieve common goals.
Adaptability and Flexibility: Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, deadlines, and requirements. Ability to handle unforeseen challenges or changes in project scope.
Knowledge of Industry Standards: Understanding of industry-specific standards, regulations, and best practices related to planning and scheduling.
Project Management Skills: Familiarity with project management principles and methodologies, such as Agile, Lean, or Six Sigma, is beneficial for roles that involve managing complex projects.
Certifications: Some positions may prefer or require certifications such as Certified Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), Project Management Professional (PMP), or other relevant credentials, depending on the industry.
