Job Description
The PHE Teacher at the Aga Khan Academy, Nairobi will implement the school’s PHE curriculum across various grade levels, fostering a safe and inclusive environment for students to grow physically, mentally, and socially. The role includes planning and organizing sporting events, coaching school teams, conducting health education sessions, and maintaining detailed student records. The position also includes budgeting and leading extracurricular sports activities. For qualified and experienced candidates, there is a potential opportunity to serve as Head of Department.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Deliver the IB Physical and Health Education curriculum across all applicable levels.
Maintain accurate student progress records reflecting skill development.
Plan and manage the school’s annual sports calendar.
Organize school sporting events including inter-house games and sports days.
Coach and prepare school teams for both internal and external tournaments.
Conduct health education programs promoting healthy lifestyles.
Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
Participate in preparing the games department’s yearly budget.
Oversee and supervise extracurricular sports and fitness activities.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Education, with a specialization in Physical Education.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years teaching experience in a reputable institution.
TSC (Teachers Service Commission) registration required.
Competencies:
Knowledge of the IB curriculum is an added advantage.
Strong organizational and event coordination skills.
Excellent coaching and mentoring abilities.
Ability to foster a healthy, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
