Job Description
The People Operations Apprentice will assist with a broad range of HR functions including recruitment support, employee onboarding, HR administration, policy compliance, employee engagement initiatives, and internal communication. The role is designed to give a comprehensive introduction to human resources operations and contribute meaningfully to shaping a people-first workplace culture at Roam. The successful candidate will gain experience working with HR systems and tools, handling sensitive employee data, and collaborating across departments. Outstanding performance may lead to a permanent position within the People Team.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Support the preparation and management of HR documents such as offer letters and contracts
Maintain and update employee records and HR databases
Assist in onboarding new hires and managing documentation
Support engagement initiatives like team events, employee surveys, and recognition programs
Track key HR milestones including probation reviews and contract renewals
Assist with compliance by supporting audits and reviewing policies
Provide first-line support to employee queries, escalating when necessary
Help manage digital and physical HR file systems
Draft internal communications such as memos and announcements
Participate in monthly HR reporting and data entry tasks
Collaborate with other departments to support HR projects
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Law, or a related field
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Comfortable working with spreadsheets (Google Sheets or Excel)
Curious, eager to learn, and willing to take initiative
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Able to adapt quickly to new systems or tools
Reliable and collaborative with a growth-oriented mindset
Open to feedback and continuous personal development
