About the Role
ASIGMA is seeking a Payables Assistant to support its Livelihood Restoration Program (LRP) under the EACOP Project in Masaka. The role involves processing payments, managing financial records, reconciling supplier accounts, and ensuring all financial operations align with ASIGMA’s policies and project guidelines. The ideal candidate will collaborate with both the finance and field teams to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely financial transactions to support effective project implementation.

How to Apply
Review expenditure requests for completeness, accuracy, and proper approval before processing payments.
Manage petty cash for daily operations, ensuring proper documentation and reconciliation.
Match local purchase orders (LPOs) with goods/services received prior to invoice processing.
Enter financial transactions into the accounting system with correct coding and classification.
Maintain up-to-date vendor and supplier databases.
Ensure compliance with ASIGMA’s finance manual, URA regulations, and applicable financial policies.
Process payments via cheque and EFT for vendors, staff, and service providers.
Reconcile petty cash and project-related financial accountabilities.
Monitor supplier balances and regularly reconcile them with ledger accounts.
Prepare and record debit notes when necessary.
Assist with internal and external audits by organizing and submitting relevant documents.
Address payment inquiries from suppliers and staff, resolving discrepancies as needed.
Support financial reporting for the Masaka-based LRP team.
Perform other finance-related duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
1–2 years of experience in a similar role, ideally within a project-based or NGO setting.
ACCA or CPA (minimum Level II) is an added advantage.
Knowledge of Ugandan financial regulations and accounting standards.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools.
Experience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks or ERP platforms.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a field-based environment.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong time management and ability to meet deadlines.
Willingness to be based in Masaka and travel to project sites as needed.
High standards of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
